Delta Blues. It whispers and shouts of places beyond flesh and bone. Doc MacLean was accompanist to some of the Mississippi's finest Delta songsters. Today, nearly thirty years after his first acoustic recordings and blues festival appearances, Doc MacLean is being rediscovered by a new generation of Delta blues audiences.
Work on a new CD almost completed, plans are underway for an ambitious 2002- 2003 touring season. Foreign appearances will include Canadian, Australian and EEC festivals. In the producer's chair, Doc MacLean has just finished recording tracks for D.C. Smith. Sony has recently re-issued a couple of 1970's tracks featuring the BBQ Boys (Doc MacLean and Colin Linden). The release includes "Mean Ol' Frisco" with Sam Chatmon, and "Red Hot" with Chris Whiteley.
