Delta Blues Doc MacLean McLean

Mississippi Delta Blues; Traditional Acoustic Blues by a Living Blues Artist

Delta Blues. It whispers and shouts of places beyond flesh and bone. Doc MacLean was accompanist to some of the Mississippi's finest Delta songsters. Today, nearly thirty years after his first acoustic recordings and blues festival appearances, Doc MacLean is being rediscovered by a new generation of Delta blues audiences.

Contemporary Delta Blues: Colin Linden to Produce New Doc MacLean CD

Grammy nominated Nashville producer Colin Linden will produce Doc MacLean's new CD. Linden is best known for his work with Bruce Cockburn, the Band, Sue Foley, and the O Brother/Down From the Mountain project. Recording will likely utilize studios in the Delta blues heartland between Memphis and New Orleans, with the master slated for completion by early spring of 2004. (Posted:11/03)

Live Delta Blues; Doc MacLean in Concert with Guy Davis

Doc MacLean and Guy Davis were featured in a capacity show at Toronto's Hugh's Room. Doc MacLean's contemporary Delta blues guitar and songwriting was accompanied by the legendary Michael Pickett on harmonica. Guy Davis brought out a couple of Sleepy John Estes numbers as Ken Whiteley backed him up on blues mandolin. A great night of acoustic blues! (Posted:10/03)
